Cooperative learning
For us cooperative learning is not just a method, but a basic educational approach. We humans are social beings and at school we study in a social environment, as part of a group and in a trusting and stimulating learning atmosphere. In a narrower sense, cooperative learning is learning together in a small group - those who learn together come up with new ideas together.
Clear rules for cooperation support the children in working fairly and productively with each other, while leaving room for creativity. Their communication with each other plays a central role here - here, too, they are supported by rules discussed in advance as well as by the supervising teachers, so that the shared work is a success for everyone. As with other learning processes, in terms of cooperative learning forms reflection on the process is also important - with reference to not only to the result but also the implementation of the work.
Cooperative learning accordingly promotes not only communicative but also social skills: appreciation for others, respecting other opinions but also contributing one's own ideas and taking responsibility in the group. Communication and cooperation are key skills - far beyond the school environment.
Social education also includes solving conflicts together, practising self-awareness and awareness of others, and creatively developing constructive solution strategies.
